Nostalgic Australians are praising a Tasmanian Woolworths store after noticing one unusual detail.

The Scottsdale store was described as a 'step back in time' thanks to the supermarket's old fit-out and not one self-serve checkout installed.

While many were huge fans of the retro store, a heated debate was sparked as many argued they prefer the self-service tills to waiting in line at the manned checkout.

'Took a day trip to Scottsdale, Tasmania, like a step back in time. Not a self serve in sight,' the shopper wrote in a post on Old Shops Australia.

The supermarket is one of the few that has not been given a modern update and still features the old chequered floors, analogue vegetable scales, air jordan deadstock signage and Lebron 13 Review tills system.

Shoppers have been wowed after discovering a Woolworths store in Scottsdale, Tasmania as it has the store's retro fit out with not a self serve checkout in sight

Woolies customers were amazed by the store they thought had not been touched since the early nineties while others could believe the photo had been taken recently.

'Wow, is this photo from today's time?' one woman asked.

'We were there last new balance 847v4 s reviews Year and jordan retro 4 af1 yes as an ex-employee, we were stunned at how 1995 the place was. Nice though, hope it doesn't change,' a second said.

'I used to work for a small business that made those Perspex signs, I applied the green letters, and those customer service signs to all Woolworth stores nationally. Memory unlocked,' shared a third.

'Not surprised, Tassie has always been behind the times. Which is awesome,' someone added.

'Oh wow! It's how I remember it as a kid in the early nineties with the triangular service lights

While many were huge fans of the retro checkouts however a heated debate was sparked as many argued they prefer the self service tills to waiting in line at the manned checkouts

A staff member of the Scottsdale store shared some insight as to why there are no self-serve checkouts.

'I work there. None of our customers seem to want self service. Being an older store, our service end that works fine was put on the back burner when our freezers needed replacing,' they said.

'Having frozen food is more important than a pretty service area. There are many stores in Tasmania that don't have self service and still function well.'

However not everyone was a fan or the old layout with many saying they much prefer the divisive self-serve checkouts.

'How annoying. Standing in an unnecessary line when you could have scanned all your groceries and left the store,' one shopper commented.

'I really like self-service checkouts. I like to pack the way I want,' another agreed.

'I would hate that. Be waiting in line forever. So inconvenient,' a third said.
